Founded in 1887, Nizam College is a premier university college situated at Basheerbagh in Hyderabad. The college was established as the result of a merger between Madarsa-i-Aliya and Hyderabad School. It is the earliest and amongst the most prestigious higher education institutions in Telangana. It was affiliated with the University of Madras before Osmania University took over the college in 1947. In 2012, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) certified it as 'A' grade institution. Nizam College has six faculties comprising a number of departments that focus on different subjects of study. The college offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes in different disciplines of arts, commerce, science, social sciences, management and informatics. It extends a range of certificate courses, diplomas and professional courses including MBA, M Sc (IS), MCA and BCA.

Nizam College Admission

The applicants of undergraduate programmes should have passed class 12th from an authorized board. Those applying for postgraduate degrees must possess a qualifying degree from a certified institute, college or university. BA, BSc, BCom and BCA admissions at Nizam College are granted through the Degree Online Services, Telangana (DOST). Those applying under reserved categories are also required to register online by visiting the official website of DOST.

Nizam College Cutoff 2020: MBA, MCA

Nizam College offers admission to MBA and MCA programmes on the basis of TS ICET scores, followed by TS ICET Counselling. The institute-wise TS ICET seat allotment list is released with the names of shortlisted candidates, along with their rank and seat category. TS ICET has released its first college-wise seat allotment list for admission to MBA programme on December 16. Nizam College Placements

The students who wish to appear for the campus placements must register themselves to the Placement and Training Cell. The cell coordinates and organizes several campus recruitment drives to extend employment opportunities to students. The Placement Cell in collaboration with Pragathi Youth Development Association conducts Skill Development programmes to help students nurture and enhance the necessary industry-related skills to match the professional environment. Wipro, Cognizant, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Akash Institutions, Genpact, Nipuna, GE, HGS, ADP, Satyam and Rachna Pharmatech are some of the major recruiters of Nizam College. In 2018, about 201 students received campus placements in leading companies and organizations. On average, 400 students from a batch of 2000 students had appeared for interviews with each company. Students also participated in campus pool placements in job fairs conducted by companies like Google, Tech Mahindra and Mphasis. In 2017, a total of 152 students were hired out of 1500 students.

The Placement Cell of the college organizes several workshops on Career counselling to offer guidance to students in choosing a career. It arranges seminars and training programmes from time to time to offer personal and social counselling to students along with fostering skills and personality development. Apart from this, several departments conduct remedial classes to provide guidance and assistance to students.

Nizam College Scholarship

The college offers a range of scholarships to its meritorious, skilled and financially needy students. Also, students who have at least 75% attendance are eligible for scholarships at Nizam College. The candidates must apply for the scholarship online, particularly those who claimed tuition fee exemption at the time of admission.
