Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Nadia was established in 1974. It is a state university. BCKV Nadia is a publicly owned co-ed institute. The university has been recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). BCKV Nadia has a campus size of more than 1,000 acres.
Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Nadia offers admission to 53 courses. At the UG level, the university offers admission to B.Sc Hons and B.Tech courses. M.Sc and M.Tech courses are offered at the PG level. BKCV Nadia offers one 25 courses at the Ph.D level. Admission to the BCKV Nadia is done on the basis of either merit in the qualifying examination or marks obtained in various entrance examinations like JEE Main or WBJEE. Candidates have to meet the BCKV Nadia cutoff to secure admission.
Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya Nadia offers placement opportunities to the students of all courses. Based on the NIRF report of 2024, 83 UG students and 37 PG students received placement offers in 2023 placements of BKCV Nadia with median salary offers of Rs 4.70 Lakhs and Rs 6.73 Lakhs respectively. a) Secondary Examination passed (10th standard) Percentage of marks: At least 50% of mark in aggregate (except additional subject) for General/OBC/Sports Quota Candidates and 40% for SC/ST/Physically Challenged.
b) Higher Secondary Examination passed (10+2) with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Percentage of marks: At least 50% of mark in aggregate in the aforesaid 4 (four) subjects for General/OBC/Sports Quota Candidates and 40% for SC/ST/Physically Challenged Candidates.
M.Sc Agricultural Entomology
Candidates must have passed the 4-year Bachelor Degree examination in Agriculture/ Horticulture/Agricultural Engineering securing Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of at least 6.60/10.00 in ten-point scale, 3.25/5.00 in five-point scale, 2.60/4.00 in four-point scale for General and OBC categories, whereas for SC/ST/PH candidates the said requirement is an OGPA of at least 5.60/10.00, 2.75/5.00, or 2.20/4.00. In other cases, where grade-points are not awarded and only marks are awarded, the candidate must have secured at least 60 % marks for General and OBC categories, whereas for SC/ST/PH categories the requirement is 50 % marks.
