In 1978-79, the academic year at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar PG Center commenced on a 49-acre land. Following the recommendations of the National Knowledge Commission, the university underwent restructuring, resulting in the transformation of the existing Dr. B. R. Ambedkar PG Center into Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam, in 2008. The new campus expanded to cover an impressive 168 acres.

Currently, the university offers a diverse range of academic programs, including 01 Diploma, 03 PG Diploma, 07 UG, and 23 PG and Ph.D. programs across its three constituent colleges.
