PhD application for admission in Forestry 2024 is ongoing, candidates have to register before the deadline ends.
The Forest Research Institute Dehradun was established in the year 1906, The disciplines pursued in the institute are Silviculture, Resource Survey and Management, Social Forestry, Minor Forest Produce, Ecology and Conservation, Genetics and Tree propagation, Forest Protection, Forest Botany, Forest Products, and Forest Operations. Forest Research Institute offers courses at postgraduate and doctoral levels.
Courses at Forest Research Institute Dehradun are M.Sc and Ph.D. which are offered with specialisations. These courses are offered in different areas of study such as biotechnology, bioinformatics, chemistry and others. The FRI Dehradun M.Sc admissions are based on the entrance examination results. This entrance examination will be conducted by the FRI Dehradun. The candidates have to secure valid scores to get the FRI Dehradun M.Sc courses. Ph.D Forest Seed Technology
Post-graduate degree in Forestry/Agriculture/Botany
Candidates for admission to the PhD programme shall have a Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, is allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.
M.Sc Forestry
Three years bachelor’s degree in science with at least one of the subjects namely Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry with minimum 50% marks.
M.Sc Environment Management
Three years bachelor’s degree in any branch of Basic or Applied Sciences or Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or Agriculture or BE in Environment Science with minimum 50% marks.
M.Sc Wood Science and Technology
Three years bachelor’s degree with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or B.Sc. degree in Forestry with minimum 50% marks.
M.Sc Cellulose and Paper Technology
Graduate degree with minimum 50% marks in aggregate in Science with Chemistry as one of the subjects. BE/ B. Tech. (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with minimum 50% aggregate).
Ph.D Silviculture
