Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bhagalpur (IIIT Bhagalpur) recognised as an ‘Institute of National Importance’ was established in the year 2017. IIIT Bhagalpur is established as an initiative by the Government of India to set up 20 new Institutes of Information Technology to impart valuable technical knowledge to the students.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development, under the Government of India, assisted in establishing the institute through a public-private partnership. IIIT Bhagalpur offers courses like B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD. IIIT Bhagalpur fees range from Rs 2.66 to Rs 9.78 lakhs. JEE Main scores are considered for B.Tech admissions while GATE scores are considered for M.Tech admissions.
Non-GATE candidates can also apply for M.Tech admissions through admission tests and interviews conducted by IIIT Bhagalpur. Indian Institute of Information Technology Bhagalpur is presently aided by Bhagalpur College of Engineering (BCE), which provides infrastructural assistance through buildings and all other facilities on its campus.

A regular student of IIIT Bhagalpur who is continuing his/her M.Tech studies and having a minimum CGPA of 8.0 at the end of second semester may be enrolled into the PhD programme of the Department in the beginning of his/her third semester of study. Such students can receive dual M.Tech and PhD Degree.

An M.Tech. degree holder of IIIT Bhagalpur, with a minimum CGPA of 8.0, up to a period of 02 (two) years from his/her completing the programme, may be considered for direct admission into the PhD programme of the Institute, in the same Department.
