Established in 2015, the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kottayam (IIIT Kottayam) is a PPP model institute, which is founded and managed in public and private partnerships. IIIT Kottayam campus is spread over 53 acres. IIIT Kottayam offers courses at UG, PG and PhD levels.
IIIT Kottayam courses include B.Tech in CSE, CSE with specialisation in Cyber Security, CSE with specialisation in AI & Data Science, and ECE. IIIT Kottayam offers M.Tech courses for working professionals. M.Tech is offered in AI and Data Science, Cyber Security, Big Data and ML, Integrated M.tech in AI & Data Science and Ph.D in various disciplines such as CSE, ECE, Mathematics, and allied areas. Admission to the B.Tech programme at IIIT Kottayam is through JEE Main.
PhD admission is through admission tests and interviews conducted by the college. IIIT Kottayam was originally operating from its temporary campuses at Thiruvananthapuram. B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering
The minimum academic qualification for admission through Central Seat Allocation (as per MHRD, Govt. of India orders) to IIIT Kottayam (hereafter, the Institute) is a pass in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent.
B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering
Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Informatics Practices/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies. Obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together. OR Passed Diploma (in Engineering and Technology) examination with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) subject to vacancies in the First Year, in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted.
Ph.D Computational Mathematics
2 years M.Sc. / Integrated M.Sc. in Mathematics/ Mathematics and Computing/ Applied Mathematics/Statistics or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate in the qualifying examination.
Ph.D Computer Science and Engineering
Master’s degree in Computer Engineering/Information Technology/ Computer Applications/ ECE or equivalent area with minimum CGPA of either 6.5 in a 10-point scale or 60% of marks in appropriate branches.
(ii) Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering / Information Technology/ Electronics and Communication Engineering from any IIT’s, NIT’s, IIIT’s / Other Institutions of National Importance with a minimum CGPA of either 7.5 in a 10-point scale or 70% of marks. Such students will be awarded both MS and PhD degree on completion of PhD Programme without any exit option during the programme.
B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering with Specialisation in Cyber Security
Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Informatics Practices/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies.
