Sambalpur University, Sambalpur was established in the year 1967. It is a government institution that offers the students a wide range of courses at diploma, undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and doctoral (Ph.D) levels through its various affiliated colleges and departments. Sambalpur University has been accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ grade and is also approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Fee structure of Sambalpur University varies from course to course. As a state government university, its fee structure is completely in accordance with government norms and ranges from Rs.9,920 to Rs.1.20 Lakhs. Scholarships are also provided to meritorious students based on their needs. Admissions to the UG courses offered by Sambalpur University is based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination while for the PG courses, Sambalpur University conducts its own entrance exam — SUET. MAT/XAT/ATMA/CAT scores are also considered for MBA admissions while Ph.D admissions are also granted based on NET/JRF/GATE scores.
Sambalpur University also offers its students placement opportunities with various companies. All its affiliated colleges have a separate placement cell which takes care of all the placement related activities. The placement cell of Sambalpur University conducts training and grooming sessions for students. As per the NIRF Report of 2024, a total of 606 out of 979 students PG students got placement offers in 2023 placements with a median salary of Rs.4.80 Lakhs.

A person, who has passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) any other examination recognized as equivalent there to, shall be eligible for the course.
B.P.Ed
(a) Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50/o marks and having at least participation in the Inter CoIlege, lnter-Zonal/ District School competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU/IOAISGFI/Govt. of lndia.
Or
(b) Bachelor’s degree in physical education with 45% marks,
Or
(e) Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 45% marks and studied physical education as compulsory elective subject.
BJMC
Candidates, who have passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for the course.
BBA
Candidates, who have passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for the course.
B.Lib.I.Sc
A candidate who has passed a Bachelor's degree of 3 years duration relevant stream or equivalent under 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized university.
M.Sc Anthropology
- Graduation (With Honours) in Arts / Science / Commerce or
- Graduation (Without Honours) in Arts / Science / Commerce with 50% Marks in aggregate.
- Preference shall be given to graduate with Anthropology as Honours or pass subject.
MSW
Any graduate securing 2nd class (Honours) or 45% of marks in aggregate in case of pass subjects. 5% relaxation in respect of the qualifying marks to be made for in-service candidates. (However, the candidates have to produce relieve order and No Objection Certificate from the employer at the time of admission.)
M.Sc Applied Chemistry
(i) Hons. in Chemistry with Physics or Mathematics as the Pass subject or (ii) Chemistry/ Industrial Chemistry as a Pass subject with Mathematics and Physics with 45% marks in aggregate, (iii) B. Sc./ B.E./ B. Tech. in Chemical Engineering with minimum 45% in aggregate. There will be a Common Entrance Test for the admission into M. Sc. in Chemistry and Applied Chemistry.
M.Sc Applied Geology
Any Honours in Science Subjects or Chemistry as a Pass subject with Mathematics or Physics with 50% marks in aggregate.
M.Tech Geospatial Technology
Master degree in any Science subject or Science graduate with P. G. Dip. in Remote Sensing & GIS or B.E / B. Tech degree in any branch with a minimum of 45% marks.
