Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) Tiruchirappalli, was established in 2012 by the Government of Tamil Nadu.TNNLU, established by the Government of Tamil Nadu through an Act of the State Legislature in 2012, aims to offer legal education globally.
TNNLU courses include B.Com LLB Hons, BA LLB Hons, LLM Corporate and Securities Law, LLM Intellectual Property Law, LLM Natural Resources Law and PhD Law. Admission to BA LLB (Hons), B.Com LLB (Hons) and LLM at NLU Trichy are done based on the scores of CLAT Exam followed by counselling. For admission to a PhD programme, the university conducts an entrance exam followed by an interview. The NLU Trichy fee for doing BA LLB (Hons) and B.Com LLB (Hons) is around Rs 8.48 lakhs

BA LLB Hons
The candidate should have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) / CBSE / other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with not less than 45% of marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST candidates).
B.Com LLB Hons
The candidate should have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) / CBSE / other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with not less than 45% of marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST candidates).
LLM Corporate and Securities Law
1. In order to seek admission it is mandatory to have a pass in 3 years /5 years B.L. or LL.B. or B.L. (Hons.) or LL.B. (Hons.) or its equivalent B.A.LL.B. (Hons.)/B.Com. LL.B.(Hons.) Degree or an equivalent examination with not less than
a. Fifty five percent (55%) marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to unreserved/OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories
b. Fifty percent (50%) marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories
2. Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May, 2025 are also eligible to appear in CLAT 2025. However, they shall be required to produce evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they will lose their right to be considered for admission.
3. The result of the qualifying examination in point number 1 above should be submitted by the candidate on or before the last date of closure of admission failing which the candidate may be ineligible for admission to the programme.
Ph.D Law
[(a).The Candidate should have a Master's degree in Law or an equivalent professional degree approved by the Bar Council of India or the UGC, from time to time, with at least 55% of marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade in a UGC Grade point scale wherever any grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% of marks, that is, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) or ‘Differently Abled’ and such other candidates as may be notified by the UGC and Government of Tamil Nadu from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master's degree before 19th September 1991”.
Or
(b) “The candidate should have a M.Phil. degree in Law through regular mode (with course work) with not less than 55% of marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade or M.Phil. in Commerce through regular mode (with course work) having secured not less than 55% of marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade (as mentioned above, wherever grading system is followed) along with atleast undergraduate degree in Law (LL.B) through regular mode. A relaxation of 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of the grade may be allowed as mentioned in Regulation 2.1. (a) Further, subject to the Regulations, a Candidate may also be admitted to the Ph.D. programme if his/her M.Phil. Dissertation is evaluated, but the viva-voce examination is pending.
LLM Intellectual Property Law
