Agricultural College, Mahanandi was established in the year 1991, and is one of the premier constituent units of Andhra Pradesh, the domicile address of which is Kurnool District. It is an institute catering to both boys and girls that covers an area of 135 acres of land and has been serving to impart quality education in agriculture since three decades. Enrolment of students at 421 and strength of faculty at 21, it offers courses in 8 programmes at 2 degree levels with a range of specialisations in agricultural science. The commitment toward quality education finds expression in the enviable student-to-faculty ratio ensuring that individual attention and support are extended to every learner.
A number of infrastructural facilities in the campus has been established to facilitate students' training under its learning environment. At the heart of the technology infrastructure lies the Agricultural Research Information Systems Centre, initiated in 1998, which gives broad banding internet connectivity throughout the campus. College Library A treasure house of knowledge, provides shelter to over 11,546 books, 52 journals, and 30 magazines catering to a wide-ranging academic need of the students. Equipped laboratories exist in departments for hands-on experience by students in respective disciplines, while sports facilities and a gymnasium simultaneously ensure parallel physical fitness alongside intellectual excellence. Other facilities include a Health Centre with first-aid facilities for college communities. There is a college canteen which serves as a refreshment and rendezvous spot. In terms of accommodation, the Agricultural College provides separate boys' and girls' hostels capable of accommodating 257 students in different blocks.
Agricultural College, Mahanandi provides a wide range of programs of agriculture. The Academic portfolio of the institute consists of 8 courses including 1 undergraduate program and 7 postgraduate programs and all these programs are full-time. The undergraduate program in B.Sc. Agriculture has a sanctioned intake of 72 seats and has served as the flagship program. The sanctioned PG programs have, further, specialized areas mentioned here: Agronomy, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Soil Science, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economics, and Entomology. With such diversity, the institute caters to a variety of interests within the agricultural sector and prepares students for multiple careers.
