AIISH is a premiere institute founded in 1966 at Mysore, Karnataka specialising in Speech and Hearing. AIISH which stands for All India Institute of Speech and Hearing is particularly known for offering special education in Speech and Hearing sciences However it has a number of programs that it provides at various levels of schooling. Located in the sprawling 32 acre compound, the institute is affiliated and recognised by NAAC empowered college. With an annual student enrolment of 525 and 57 faculty members AIISH offers a niche specialisation in speech and hearing sciences that can help the aspiring student community carve a niche for themselves in their chosen profession.

AIISH has numerous facilities, which fall under the beneficiary’s umbrella and which are meant to support the academic programmes as well as to help improve the student’s experience. There are two guest houses at the place – Ashoka International Guest House and AIISH Guest House, main targets include official guests, but they welcome personal guest as well. Dormitory facilities for the male and female students consist of single sex accommodations of single, double and triple bedded rooms with furniture. In addition to that, the other schools are host to current amenities such as a modem gymnasium, a sports complex for shuttle badminton and table tennis and an auditorium that can accommodate four hundred people fitted with the best in sound and light equipments.

General, the institute provides a total of 18 courses in seven degree programs in speech and hearing sciences with different educational levels. These include undergraduate programmes like Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP) educator training for special education with Hear Impaired, postgraduate programmes like M.Sc in Audiology and M. Sc in Speech Language Pathology and doctoral degree in Audiology, Speech & Hearing, Speech Language Pathology, Special Education and Linguistics.

The admission of students to AIISH differs based on the programme of the student. Like most other undergraduate programs such as BASLP, a common entrance examination is taken all over the India which comprises questions from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology which is prepared according to the CBSE syllabus of 11th and 12th standard. M.Sc Audiology and M.Sc Speech Language Pathology admission process also require an entrance exam which follows the B.Sc (Sp. & Hg.) / BASLP syllabus.
