Behala College, established in 1963, is one of the best institutions in Kolkata, West Bengal. This affiliated college, accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, has a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs it offers under different disciplines. Built on compactly 2.06 acres of land, Behala College has 1,805 students enrolled, comprising 46% males and 54% females at the undergraduate level. 

Behala College has several facilities to assist students in learning and developing their personalities. The library, which constitutes the very backbone of academic resources, has a stock of approximately 23,000 books including textbooks and reference books. It has an open access system and is semi-computerised. Each honours department at the departmental level has its own seminar library for access to specialised subjects. Well-equipped laboratories for practical learning can assist the students in the science stream. Other facilities provided by Behala College include a canteen, gymnasium, Wi-Fi connectivity, and an auditorium for events and seminars for the community. Sports facilities are available to assist the physical well-being of students, while a health center with first-aid services sees to the basic medical care on campus. The college has also provided a parking facility for the convenience of the staff and students.

The programs offered at Behala College include a gamut of courses; in all, there are 24 courses at both under-graduate and postgraduate levels. Most of these are full-time courses, underpinning the traditional image of on-campus learning. At the undergraduate level, it offers 19 courses, of which the popular ones comprise Arts and Sciences.
