Bhatter College, Dantan, was founded in 1963 as a rural affiliated college in Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. This premier college has a sprawling 10.45-acre campus and is NAAC-accredited. The student strength at present is 2211, and there are 28 faculty members imparting education in 21 courses under 7 degrees. The student body composition includes 83% undergraduate and 17% postgraduate students, with a very balanced sex ratio of 44% male and 56% female students. Bhatter College is unique in its varied academic streams in arts, commerce, and sciences, catering to a very diversified range of educational aspirations.
The college has quite a number of facilities aimed at enriching the learning environment. The campus has separate hostels for boys, Sukanta Chhatrabas with an intake capacity of 30, and for girls, Sarada Bhavan with an intake capacity of 40, with priority accommodation to SC, ST, OBC, and physically challenged students. Modern gymnasium, well-equipped laboratories, and a well-stocked library provide an ambiance for the proper growth of the body and mind. The institution's IT setup helps the students keep pace with changing technology. Other facilities, such as a cafeteria, auditorium, and sports infrastructure, make for an all-rounded learning environment. A health center with first aid facilities and a dedicated Training and Placement Cell further attend to the welfare and career development of students.

The Students who pass Higher Secondary or equivalent examination(10+2) with a minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate (to be calculated by adding the marks obtained in “Best Five” subjects) or 50% marks in the subject or related subject are eligible to apply for admission in the honors course.
