BRM Government Law College, Guwahati, Assam, started way back in 1914 as a premier institution of legal studies. Situated near Kalakshetra on Jyoti Prasad Agarwala Road, this affiliated college has been shaping the legal minds since long. It has been approved by the Bar Council of India and offers three full-time courses in law with a total enrolment of students numbering 462. As of the date, there are 26 members in the faculty and hence an appropriate student-faculty ratio. The infrastructural facilities provided by the college help in the overall academic and personal development of the students. One of the most important facilities for legal research is the library, situated on the 2nd floor of the RCC building. It has a vast collection of textbooks, reference books, journals, and electronic resources. Currently, it is trying to computerise its services with the help of SOUL2.0 LMS software. It also has a fully equipped computer laboratory that can aid students in accessing all relevant legal databases.
The Moot Court Hall, under the supervision of experienced faculty members, helps provide the right platform for students who want to become advocates. Other facilities include an auditorium for events and seminars, a cafeteria serving refreshments, and sports facilities for physical recreation. BRM Government Law College runs three comprehensive courses in law, and all these are full-time courses.
The institution offers a 3-year LLB with an enrolment of 120 students, a 5-year integrated BA LLB with an enrolment of 60, and a 2-year LLM with an enrolment of 20. In this way, it covers a wide range of students, from undergraduate to advanced level, during the process of legal education. This brings the total student enrolment for all programmes to 200. This is an indication that the college has been committed to upholding class sizes that promote quality education.

BA LLB
An applicant who has successfully completed Senior Secondary School (+2) course or equivalent from a recognised University of India or outside or from a Senior Secondary Board or equivalent, constituted or recognised by the Union or by the State Government from a foreign country recognised by the Government of that country with atleast 45 % ( 40% for SC,ST and OBC applicants) in aggregate may apply for and be admitted into the program to obtain the integrated degree in law with B.A. as the first degree.
LLM
An applicant who has a degree in law from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State Legislature or an equivalent National Institution recognised as a Deemed to be University or foreign university recognised as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence, with atleast 50% (45% for SC,ST and OBC applicants), may apply for a two years master degree program in law leading to conferment of LL.M. degree on successful completion of regular program.
LLB
An applicant who has graduated in any discipline of knowledge from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State Legislature or an equivalent national institution recognised as a Deemed to be University or foreign university recognised as equivalent to the statusof an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence, with atleast 45% ( 40% for SC,ST and OBC applicants), may apply for a three year degree program in law leading to conferment of LL.B. degree on successful completion of regular program.
