Chennai Academy of Architecture and Design (CAAD) is one of the leading educational institutions in Thumbakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and was founded in 2014. This is a co-educational institute, recognised by the Council of Architecture and this institute provides specialised degrees in Architecture and Designing. CAAD, located on a 2.5-acre piece of land, has enroled 332 students and it has a staff of 34 members. The academy delivers three courses of study that are based on Architecture and Design specialisations. CAAD remains to uphold quality education by being approved by the Council of Architecture whose task is to monitor that CAAD fulfills the standards and follows the laws governing the practice of architecture profession.
The institute has a number of professional facilities and amenities to promote the academic activities and amenities for students learning. CAAD includes separate hostels for boys and girls for the outstation students, which gives them a comfortable stay. The rich stocked air conditioned library with more than one floor provides ample resource and study space for the academics. In terms of technology, CAAD boasts of modern IT equipment and wireless internet connection all over the compound. It also focuses on health, having sport’s amenities and a gym area. Other facilities are mess, an open-air stage for programmes and seminars, and a dental clinic, air conditioned bus facility from different localities of Chennai and a health care unit including first aid essentials. These extensive structures maintain a favourable atmosphere for all round learning and development.
In its entirety, CAAD provides three full-time courses at different levels of academic pursuits. These are the B.Arch, B.Des, and an MS Medical Architecture programmes offered at Griffith university. Out of the approved intake of 120 students, the flagship programme, B.Arch has 80 seats. The type of course offered here makes sure that the students are provided with specialisation in various areas of their interest in architectural and design fields.
The admission requirements that apply to CAAD also differ with the programme offered. For admission to B.Arch, the admissions are done on the basis of either National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) or through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE MAIN) B.Arch paper. These national accredited tests prove that the students who are interested in architectural degree programmes possess the necessary skills and academic qualities needed for the programme. The entrance test score of CAAD can be gotten from the NATA or the JEE Main, thus giving freedom to the learners. The focus on talent development in architecture and design is evident in the institute, hence it has an elaborate admission process that incorporates the identification of the prospective candidate to cater for each tends of the creative and technical profession.

B.Des Interior Design
A pass in 12th grade (any stream) or a Diploma qualification is necessary. NATA is NOT required for this course.
B.Arch
Candidates must have passed the 12th or Diploma qualification. The applicant should have taken Maths as a subject of study in the 12th grade or in the Diploma.
