Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College is one of the oldest and premier institution of Law in India which was commenced in 1891. Being an affiliated college situated at Chennai, it is approved from Bar Council of India (BCI) which insulate legal education quality. The college occupies as many as 90 acres of land, which is sufficient for together academic activities and students’ performances. The college has accepted a total of 1,012 students and is staffed with 22 faculties so, is ideal in terms of the student-teacher ratio. Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College has two unique courses in law that aim at students who want to be well equipped with the law education they need.
According to the present study, the college is determined to equip its students with various facilities to aid their learning process. It also has a gate for male students and another for female students so that students from other towns and regions of the country may be well accommodated in the hostels. The men’s hostel is at 92 Miller’s Road, Kilpak and the women’s hostel at No. 133, Walajah Salai, Chepak. There is a modern moot court hall for regulations and mooting activities and students can practice in several levels of nationwide moot competitions.
Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College offers two full-time law programmes, there is a 3 year LLB course and 5 year Integrated B.A LLB (Hons) course. The intake has been approved to be three hundred seats for each of the programmes and hence six hundred seats per year. This learning programmes was developed and formulated for the purpose of offering students adequate knowledge in the legal field and adequate practical knowledge necessary for success in the legal field.
The admission process of Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College assists in choosing talented candidates for the college’s law courses. As for the admission criteria, however, the common practices are based on the student’s performance in qualifying tests as well as the results of law entrance examination.

BA LLB Hons
Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination under 10+2 pattern with not less than 45% of marks which is recognized by the syndicate as equivalent to Higher Secondary Examination of the Government of Tamil Nadu, are eligible for admission.
For S.C./S.T. candidates concession of 5% marks in the minimum of marks required for admission for LL.B. 5 year Degree Course of study as prescribed in the regulations will be given.
LLM Environment, Energy and Climate Change Laws
A candidate who has passed the B.L./LL.B Degree Examination and has secured not less than 50% of the aggregate marks in all the Three Years of the Three Year B.L./LL.B Degree Course or in all Five Years of the Five Year B.L. / LL.B Degree Course together, as the case may be, shall be eligible to apply for the LL.M. Degree Course. However a relaxation of 5% is given to the candidates belong in to SC/ST communities.
LLM Family Law
