The College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Imphal (CAU) is one of the recognised institution started in the year 1993. This constituent college is established and working for education and research at field of agriculture located at Lamphelpat, Imphal West. Located on a huge plot of 44 acres, the CAU Imphal hosts numerous courses in Agricultural Sciences. The college today has a total student population of three hundred and twenty six students and a teaching staff of forty-three members.
The College of Agriculture and CAU Imphal will see that the students get the best equipment for use by them to boost their learning endeavors. Camp facilities for instruction and research also include well equipped laboratories fitted with modern equipment for teaching and learning purposes. College library is an important knowledge reserves, it has more than 21000 books and documented CDs. It currently employs more than 27 periodical subscriptions and has a link to over 4,000 e-journal titles and 200 e-books through the deacon and the Cera. It also provides the services of plagiarism control and currently, the library is in the process of being brought into digitisation. To enhance students’ comfort and convenience, we have separate hostels for boys and girls with facilities like Wi-Fi, 24 hours power service, purified drinking water and CCTV cameras.
The institute has complete programmes in agriculture with different levels that any learners would want to study. The first and oldest programme offered at the undergraduate level is the B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons). The postgraduate courses are M.Sc offerings in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension Entomology, Horticulture, Plant Pathology Genetics and Plant breeding, Soil Science, and Agricultural Chemistry. For those wishing to pursue a doctorate education, the college has the following Ph.D programmes; Genetics and Plant Breeding, Soil Sciences and Agriculture Chemistry, Agricultural Economics, Plant Pathology, and Agricultural Extension. All the courses are offered fully funded as this ensures that the students get the best knowledge as well as the necessary practice in their chosen fields all across the world.

College of Agriculture might expect its students to achieve satisfactory performance in related subjects and may administer its entrance examinations or accept scores from entrance tests taken by the students for admission into agricultural colleges at the national level. B.Sc Agriculture Hons
A person, who has passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) with science stream or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for the course.
Ph.D Genetics and Plant Breeding
- Master’s Degree holders satisfy the criteria stipulated under Clause 2 above.
- Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and successfully completing the M.Phil. Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to the Ph. D. Degree in the same Institution in an integrated program. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
- A person whose M.Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending may be admitted to the Ph.D. program of the same Institution.
- Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program.
Ph.D Soil Sciences and Agriculture Chemistry
