The PGT or Post Graduate in Teacher Education, Shillong is also referred to as PGT Shillong, is an established college for teachers training. This affiliated college was set up in 1964, and is situated in Laitumkhrah, Shillong, Meghalaya. It is affiliated to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Being a small private college, PGT Shillong occupies a small area of 1, 405 square meters creating a conducive learning atmosphere among its students.

Notable amongst them is the college library which has adopted an automated system which is worked out through the LibSys software for dealing with circulation, searching and cataloguing amongst other activities.. The College of Teacher Education (PGT), Shillong, currently offers one primary course such programmes as the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). - Candidates with at least 45% marks in the Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree with at least two school subjects at the graduation level are eligible for admission.
- Seats are reserved for ST / SC / OBC and physically handicapped students. To clear the backlog of untrained teachers, some seats are also reserved for candidates who do not qualify on the basis of the marks obtained with the Bachelor’s Degree, but who have three years of teaching experience.
