Colonel College of Education, Sangrur is an affiliated college that was set up in 2003 in Chural Kalan, Moonak, Sangrur, Punjab. It is co-educational and recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and offers specialisations in education. Affiliated to Punjab University, the college is located on a 3-acre plot of land and has an enrolment size of 384 students and a faculty of 21.
This college has various installations that are intended to improve the quality of learning of students. It is established as one of the significant libraries in containing 7956 books on different aspects of education and different reference sources, journals, and newspapers. For physical development, there is a provision of a sports room and a number of play fields where children can play volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, badminton, basket ball, and table tennis. IT facilities are other infrastructures that comprise of an air-conditioned computer studies hall, which has 15 internet-sensitive computers to help nature students’ awareness of technological developments in the teaching and learning process. Canteen, transportation facilities, sufficiently large hall for assemblies and cultural activities, fully equipped practical laboratories, and training and placement cell for a direct interaction between the academic and professional worlds.
In total, Colonel College of Education has been offering two courses, and both of them are full-time courses. Consequently, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme has an approved student capacity of one hundred, while the Master of Education (M.Ed.) programme has a capacity of fifty. They are special learning courses aimed at producing professional tutors and educational managers.
The admission process at Colonel College of Education fully follows the university and state government-set procedures. For the B.Ed. programme, there are limited direct admissions for self-financed students, and others are selected through the B.Ed. entrance exam conducted by the university. Out of total strength, the college also provides 15% management quota admissions based on marks secured in the bachelor’s or master’s degree. The admissions to the M.Ed. programme are merit-based, based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination as well as the entrance test scores. Both programmes have reservation policies for SC/ST/OBC candidates, for differently abled persons, and for women as per the rule of the government.
