Damber Singh College, Tadong (DSC) is well known college situated in Gangtok, Sikkim. This affiliated college was set up in 1994 and is now capable of training young scholars for nearly three decades. Located in the beautiful Himalayan state, DSC provides an environment that is most appropriate for learning and self development. At present, the college has a faculty stock of 17 highly dedicated teacher professionals to nurture and enrich student talent. Currently, at DSC there is the following distribution of undergraduate courses; 5 courses across 3 different degrees, but with arts and humanities as the main field of interest. Here at Damber Singh College, the following facilities are offered to facilitate the students learning experience: The college has a modern digital library with more than 4,000 reference and recommended books that many students can use for their work. For those who may need to stay within the compound, DSC has provision for boys’ and girls’ hostels for outstation students. A positively singled out pillar can be recreational sports, with the college having ample provision for indoor sports, other than the main sporting activities during practice. The college also provides the necessary departmental laboratories, which are helpful for practically based coursework. In this respect DSC has embraced the new world economy by providing excellent IT facilities. Other welfare facilities include canteen for taking meals, dining hall for all round nourishment, proctor’s room for the guests, and sick bay, dispensary for first aid, and all in all a healthy atmosphere to tan.

Damber Singh College provides a total of five full-time programmes in teaching and based on its regular programmes only. The college focuses on offering arts undergraduate programmes particularly in humanities disciplines. Based on these considerations the following educational programmes are offered BA (hons), B.Lib.I.Sc, BA. This helps student to be flexible and to be able to choose a programme that they have interest in as far as their academics or the kind of job they are seeking is concerned.

To increase the access of aspiring students, the admission policy at Damber Singh College Tadong is made very straightforward. In selection of students into its programmes, the college usually has a trend of giving priority to scores achieved in the 10+2 examinations or equivalent. But interestingly, there is nothing known about entrance examinations at the college as it does not declare any list of them.
