The Department of Chemical Engineering at Punjab University, Chandigarh, was established in 1958 and is a prestigious constituent college dedicated to excellence in chemical engineering education. Situated in Sector 14, Chandigarh, it has been pioneering in the field of shaping the future of chemical engineering students for over six long decades. The same can be used as Dr. S. S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology. The department offers a wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate courses approved by AICTE. Twenty highly experienced professionals make a faculty that provides a quality educational experience to the students.

The Department of Chemical Engineering offers four courses on a full-time basis, out of which two are undergraduate and two postgraduate programs. The undergraduate programs include BE Chemical Engineering and BE Food Technology, both for a duration of four years. At the postgraduate level, the department provides for M.Tech Polymer Engineering and ME Chemical Engineering with two years' duration. The courses vary in specialization, ranging from Chemical Engineering to businesses and professions.

BE Chemical Engineering
It's four years full time course Eligibility Criteria : dmission on the basis of Entrance Test conducted by C.B.S.E. (AIEEE) with a minimum score of 15%. Relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST students. Minimum percentage of 60% marks in the qualifying examination, i.e. +2, for all categories is essential for admission to first year B.E. courses in the Institute except in the case of SC/ST/PH categories for which the percentage be 55 % for admission to engineering courses from the academic session of 2010-2011. BE Food Technology
It's four years full time course Eligibility Criteria : dmission on the basis of Entrance Test conducted by C.B.S.E. (AIEEE) with a minimum score of 15%. Relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST students. M. Tech Polymer Engineering
It's two years full time course Eligibility Criteria : At least 60% in any one of the following & Relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST students as per P.U. rules : Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering/Chemical Technology/Polymer Science/Engg./ Tech./Plastic Tech. or an equivalent examination. OR Master's degree within Technical Chemistry/Applied Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/Chemistry (with Non-medical stream) Or an equivalent examination. Admission is on the basis of entrance test (OCET) and interview to be conducted by the Panjab University according to the following criteria. GATE qualified candidates will be given preference and they will be exempted from the OCET Test. Degree Marks : 50% Entrance Test : 50%
ME Chemical Engineering
It's two years full time course Eligibility Criteria : B.E. (Chemical) or an equivalent examination with at least 60% marks in the aggregate from recognized university. Relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST students as per Univ. rules. Admission is on the basis of Entrance Test (OCET) and interview to be conducted by the Panjab University according to the following criteria. GATE qualified candidates will be given preference and they will be exempted from the OCET Test : Degree Marks : 50% Entrance Test : 50%
