The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is one of the premier constituent colleges of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, established in the year 1956. It is one of the co-educational institutions based in Nagpur, Maharashtra. This department has carved out a specific niche for itself in the field of pharmaceutical education. It offers 6 courses at 3 levels: B.Pharma, M.Pharma, and Ph.D. The institute enrols 215 students that have a faculty strength of 13 members. The number includes male and female students, with 90 males and 125 females. Since it is PCI-approved, the department of the college indeed provides good quality education in accordance with the pharmaceutical industry.
Various facilities are available, aiming to increase the learning values of the students attending the institute. The library of the institute serves as a central storehouse of knowledge and houses diversified pharmaceutical literature and research materials that could be accessed by students and faculty members. Specialised laboratories are available with sophisticated instruments and equipment to provide firsthand exposure in most of the areas of pharmaceutical sciences. Hostel facilities for boys as well as girls are also available separately for the students in need of accommodation. The boys' hostel has been built just adjacent to the university campus, whereas the girls' hostel, constructed in 1983, can accommodate 60 students to pursue B.Pharm from the pharmacy department. Both hostels have a strict code to create a proper atmosphere for scholars and their growth.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers a full range of pharmaceutical courses at all levels of pharmaceutical education. It offers one undergraduate programme (B.Pharma), four postgraduate programmes in different specialities (M.Pharma), and a doctoral programme Ph.D. in pharmacy. The courses are conducted on a full-time basis, which is reflective of the philosophy of deep immersion into intense and focused education. The B.Pharma programme has 60 approved enrolments, while the M.Pharma programmes comprise an aggregate enrolment of 42 students across the different specialities. A student can explore various facets of pharmaceutical sciences through the diverse offering, coming out with more specificity in areas of interest.

The department of pharmaceutical sciences follows a very centralised and strict admission procedure based on rules and guidelines followed by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra State. For the B.Pharma programme, admission is made based upon marks scored in the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET). Eligibility criteria for MHT CET are available in the information brochure of MHT CET. For M.Pharma, like B.Pharma, admission is centralised, and candidates are required to qualify the eligibility criteria prepared by the Directorate of Technical Education.
