Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) Department of Ship Technology was founded in 1975 in Cochin, Kerala. It is a constituent department of the Cochin University of Science and Technology which offers undergraduate and post graduate programme in naval architecture and ship building. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved the department, which presently comprises 12 members of the teaching faculty. It provides two postsecondary courses, while its clientele base is quite diversified, and the school is a co-educational institution.
The Department of Ship Technology aims at having hi-tech gadgets for it to effectively perform it’s the teaching and researsh inspectores . Having one of the best library facilities, the library stocked over 10,000 books, project reports, dissertations with 8 firgined journals circulation with more than 250 population that comprising of faculty, research scholars and students. The department is also provided with qualitatively fine IT facilities, laboratory facilities and an auditorium for conducting events/seminar. Cochin University of Science and Technology insure about physical fitness of the students is sparingly provided with sports amenities and utilities, and a car park suffices the faculty, staff and students. These facilities altogether develop favourable conditions to learning and research process in a highly specialised sphere of ship technology.
The department offers two full-time courses: a 4 year B.Tech programme which was being offered in Naval Architecture and Ship Building for 40 eligible students, and M.Tech programme of 2 year duration offering 18 seats in Computer Aided Structural Analysis and Design. These programmes are intended to allow the students learn advanced concepts and techniques in their areas of specialisation. Considering the B.Tech programme, the syllabi provide core knowledge in the naval architectures and ship building, and in the case of M.Tech programme, it covers modern advanced theoretical and practical computational methods in structural analysis of marine engineering vessels.

B.Tech Naval Architecture and Ship Building
The candidate should pass State +2 Board and All India Senior Secondary Examination and Equivalent Certificates, First Class with 50% Marks for PCM and 50% for Mathematics alone.
M.Tech Computer Aided Structural Analysis and Design
The candidate should have B. Tech First Class in Naval Architecture/Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering with Valid GATE Score.
