Dev Samaj College of Education, Chandigarh, was established in the year 1981 as a frontline institution of teacher education. This premier girls' college is located in Sector 36-B, Chandigarh, sprawling over 2.5956 acres, and is affiliated with Panjab University. The institute is assessed and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, and various courses the institute offers are approved by the National Council for Teacher Education. It has a total student enrolment of 301 with faculty strength of 23, offering 4 courses in 3 degrees.
Dev Samaj College of Education has a number of modern facilities that go toward supporting its academic endeavours. The college library acts as an information centre for students and staff members. In addition to the well-equipped laboratories, like the Psychology Lab, Science Laboratory, Mathematics Laboratory, and Language Lab, provision is also made for hands-on work. The Educational Technology/ Curriculum Lab is well-equipped with teaching aids of modern concepts to further the process of teaching-learning. The multi-purpose auditorium with a seating capacity of over 200 persons provides an ideal setting for various events and activities.
There are 4 full-time courses available viz. B.Ed, M.Ed, PGD in Guidance and Counselling, and PGD in Child Guidance and Family Counselling. The total approved intake for all courses is 230 students annually. The B.Ed programme has the highest intake of 100; for M.Ed, it is 50; and for both PGD programmes, the seat count is 40 each. Such courses would address the different aspects of education and counseling, leading students to diverse vocational careers within the field.

The admission process varies for different courses in Dev Samaj College of Education. The PANJAB University, Chandigarh, has admission on a merit basis for the B.Ed. programme in Education Colleges in the Union Territory of Chandigarh. B.Ed
Candidates with at least fifty percent marks either in the Bachelor's Degree and/or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/ Humanity, Bachelor's in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the program.
M.Ed
Candidates seeking admission to the M.Ed. program should have obtained at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade in the following programs:
(i) B.Ed.
(ii) B.A.B.Ed., B.Sc.B.Ed.
(iii) B.El.Ed.
(iv) D.El.Ed. with an undergraduate degree (with 50% marks in each).
PGD Guidance and Counselling
The minimum qualification for admission is a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline of any recognized university with not less than 50% marks in aggregate.
