The first constituent college to offer flexible education opportunities; the Directorate of Open and Distance Learning, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was set up in 2018. Although established and situated in the historical city of Amritsar, this institute focuses in delivering distance education programs to students who wish to undertake diverse modes of learning. Being a co-educational institution, it admires learners of and from different backgrounds making it an inclusive institution. The Directorate currently teaches 8 courses in 7 degree programs; Commerce Computer Applications Arts and Library Science Specializations.
This institute is dedicated to offer standard education through distance mode but have requirement of modern equipments. The college also has a resourceful library whereby students are provided with relevant studying material required within college. Further, the Directorate known to have made substantial investment in great IT, distance learning students in particular have adequate technological support. These amenities are important elements as they are designed to help minimize the differences between the conventional face-to-face learning and online type of education by allowing students to get ready access to the course material, to be able engage in the online discussions if any and to be able to submit assignments when called upon to do so.

The course options available are undergraduate courses like B.Com, BCA, BA, BBA; master’s degree courses including MA English, MA Punjabi, M.Com; and there is also a B.Lib.I.Sc course in addition to these. This range of courses shows the extent to which this institute is responsive to offering diverse comprehensive education opportunities in various disciplines.

A person, who has passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) any other examination recognized
as equivalent there to, shall be eligible for the course.
MA English
Bachelor‟s Degree in any Faculty with 50% marks in aggregate OR 45% marks in the subject concerned or equivalent examination. OR Master‟s Degree of this or another University in another subject or another faculty.
MA Punjabi
Bachelor‟s Degree in any Faculty with 50% marks in aggregate OR 45% marks in the subject concerned or equivalent examination. OR Master‟s Degree of this or another University in another subject or another faculty.
B.Lib.I.Sc
Must have a bachelor’s degree from any recognised institute or university.
Must have scored at least 50 percent marks in aggregate in B.A/B.Sc/B.Com or its equivalent exam from any institute or university.
Must have scored 45 percent marks in aggregate in B.A/B.Sc/B.Com with at least 50 percent marks in M.A/M.Sc/M.Com from any institute or university.
B.Com
A person, who has passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) any other examination recognized

M.Com
Bachelor of Commerce (Regular, Hons) / Bachelor of Business Administration with at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC / ST candidates OR Any other examination recognized equivalent thereto
BCA

as equivalent there to, shall be eligible for the course.
BBA
