Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Science, Coimbatore (GRDCS) is an institution affiliated with the Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and was started in 1988. The college is situated in Tamil Nadu spread over an area of 15 acres and are specialised in Science and Management education. At present, GRDCS has 57 courses nested in 13 programmes leading to different degree types for 4,217 students’ enrolment. Only at this institute is a total of 161 members of the faculty, which assures a quality ratio of students to teachers. GRDCS is AICTE approved private university that sets standards for education in South India.

The college offers a range of fully equipped modern day facilities that help in the achievement of academic and other students’ productivity goals. From a training perspective, library is essential in learning at GRDCS with numerous books, magazine, and journals and a managerial database known as EBSCO. The facility and infrastructure include up-to-date IT which consists of 900 computers with internet access and 2,5 Mbps broadband. For the benefit of the students in biotechnological field, the college includes various laboratories such as M.Sc and B.Sc Biotechnology Labs, Animal Cell Culture Lab, Microbial Culture Lab and Bioreactor Room. There also exist facilities such as chess playground, TT hall, badminton hall , ground for cricket, volley ball and football. The college also runs hostel facility separately for boys and girls out-station students to assure safe and comfortable accommodation; boys hostel has 422 beds and girls hostel has 284 beds.

The courses provided by GRDCS fall in a broad category of fields of study. In undergraduate, the college offers B.Sc programmes in Computer Science, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Visual Communication, Psychology, Computer Technology. The commerce stream comprises of B.Com degrees with majors in Computer Application, E-Commerce, Corporate Secretaryship, Actuarial Management, Information Technology, Accounting, International Business, Professional Accounting, and Accounting and Finance. The college also provide BBA, BBA in Retail Management and BCA courses. At post graduate level GRDCS has MBA & MBA (Part-Time), MCA, M.Sc in Information Technology and Biotechnology, MA in English Literature and number of M.Phil and Ph.D. programmes. 

GRDCS follows the standard admission procedures and conducts admission on merit basis for the students. For MBA and MCA courses entrance tests are conducted along with group discussions and/or interview. Standardised academic tests accepted at the college include MAT for MBA programmes as well as TANCET for various courses. M.Sc Biotechnology has an entrance exam criterion for the admission to its course.
