Accessed on 25 February 2020 GCW Jammu is an autonomous and affiliated government college for women established in 1944 in Parade Ground, Jammu. This women’s college is set in the city of Jammu and has been imparting education of higher learning for more than seven decades. Located in a 4.62 acre land, GCW Jammu offers 51 courses and having strength of 5,755 students. The college has 93 dedicated faculties that make it possible to maintain an attractive student faculty ratio. Recognised under the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), GCW Jammu becomes a suitable model of education excellence in Jammu region.

GCW boasts of facilities and infrastructure that will complement the learning process of its learners. Including over 65 000 books and a numerous collection of periodicals, journals and magazines of various disciplines, the library is an essential part of academic sources. It adopts an open- access system to ensure that it offers students a suitable environment for research and personal or group study. The college has well equipped labs in Physics,Chemistry,Botony,Deantry,Electronics,Psychology functional English & home science & BCA so as to have practical knowledge for the science & Technological aspirants.

GCW Jammu completely aims at providing all major and minor undergraduates and postgraduates courses. Today college offers 35 undergraduate courses such as B.Sc Medical, B.Sc Non- Medical, BA, B.Com and various honours subjects starting right from English literature to biotechnology etc. In the post graduate level, the institution offers 6 programmes of M.Sc Home Science, MA Music, MA English, M.Sc. Zoology and MCA. Hence this diverse academic curriculum offers opportunity of different fields of study and employment potential making GCW Jammu unique destination for women’s higher learning in the region.

Admission in GCW Jammu is largely skills based where the students are admitted according to their performance with different requirements in different courses. For science programmes, candidate must have secured at least 50% mark in the qualifying examination while for arts/ commerce streams, the eligibility is 45% marks only.
