Government College situated in Malappuram was the year 1972, an acclaimed educational institute in Malappuram, Kerala. NAAC accredited affiliated college offering a wide spectrum of Under Graduate and Post Graduate programs. The college is located on a 12.57 acre land and total enrollment of students is 1868, and total strength of faculties are 63. There are 18 courses taught by the institute with 7 degrees programs to meet the academic needs of the students. With a strong focus on gender diversity, the college has a female-to-male student ratio of approximately 4:1, and partly due to its education policy of integration for learners with disabilities.
Government College offers so many infrastructural facilities to support and complement the learning and teaching activities of the students. A good library provides information needs of the stakeholders given a variety of materials to work with. Within the campus includes the Health and Fitness Centre which includes a Gym for physical workouts for students and members of the faculty. To support academic processes, smart classrooms and laboratories are provided for effective and technology reinforced learning and teaching. Some of these establishments include, sporting activities and additional activities are provided to enhance a students’ development. The college also has a girl’s hostels which serve to provide accommodation to female candidates in college. Wireless facilities are available all over the campus for facilitating the students in the modern world of computer interconnection.
Government College, Malappuram has in total 18 courses, out of which few are undergraduate and few are postgraduate courses. The institute currently offers 12 full-time undergraduate programmes and 6 full fledged postgraduate programmes. This college operates more through a Centralized Admission Process (CAP) of the University of Calicut and less through direct admission. Undergraduate programmes have a process known as Under Graduate Centralized Admission Process (UG CAP) while Post graduate courses have a similar process referred to as Post Graduate Centralised Admission Process (PG CAP). The online registration of admission usually starts in June every year through the Admission Portal of the Directorate of Admission (DoA) of Calicut University. Students get admitted in August and September depending on the University’s quota. Though, in specific cases concerning individual alumni, details are not disclosed, the college has a functioning alumni and their welfare is prioritized.

Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto.
BA Economics
Any candidate who passed plus two of the higher secondary board of Kerala or equal examination of any other University or board of examination in any state recognized as equivalent to plus two of the higher secondary board in Kerala.
BA History
A person, who has passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for the course.
BA Islamic History
Students must have completed their 10+2 education from a recognized board with at least 50% marks.
BA Malayalam
The candidate who passed plus two of the higher secondary board of Kerala or equal examination of any other University or board of examination in any state recognized as equivalent to plus two of the higher secondary board in Kerala. However, the candidates who have studied Malayalam during the qualifying examination shall be given some weightage while calculating the index marks for admission.
BA Urdu
Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent there to.
MA Economics
BA Degree of this University with Economics/Foreign Trade/Development Economics (Main) or equivalent degree with at least 45% marks for Part III (excluding subsidiaries).OR B Sc Degree of this University with Statistics/Mathematics (Main) or equivalent degree with at least 70% marks for Part III (excluding subsidiaries).OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.
B.Com Finance Hons
Any candidate who has passed the Plus Two of the Higher Secondary Board of Kerala or Pre Degree of Calicut University or that of any other University or Board of Examinations in any state recognized as equivalent to the Plus Two of the Higher Secondary Board in Kerala, with not less than 45% marks in aggregate is eligible.
B.Sc Chemistry
Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with science subjects are eligible for admission.
B.Sc Physics
The Candidates must have passed Plus Two in the Science stream.
