Mendhar Government Degree College was established in the year 2005, which is affiliated college situated in Tehsil-Mendhar, District Poonch Jammu & Kashmir. This is a public institution with a 6.7- acre main and a student population of 1,375 in undergraduate programmes only. The college has almost equal numbers of male and female students with 53% males and 47% females. Accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the institution provides two undergraduate degree programmes: BA and B.Sc Bachelor of Arts programmes and Bachelor of Science programmes. Maintaining a student teacher ratio of 26 faculty members the college provide a favourable environment for learning.

Mendhar Government Degree College has a variety of amenities that would be an advantage for the students ‘academic success as well as the development of the whole person. The, being one of the important facilities of learning, has a stock of approximately five thousand books the major category of which is subjects and most of them are general topics. It also provides facilities for students to read and has magazine, newspapers, and journals subscriptions to enlarge students’ literacy polarities. The college offers sports for those with an interest in that area and also has a gym for those interested in personal fitness.

Government Degree College, Mendhar, offers two full-time undergraduate programme. BA and B.Sc. Both of the programmes take three years of coursework and ensure students acquire extensive knowledge in their fields of speciality.

Government Degree College Mendhar also follows the merit based admission policy as prescribed by the Jammu University as well as as directed by the Higher Education Department of Jammu and Intake capacity for the different fields or streams. The college also accepts applications to its BA and B.Sc programmes and usually sends out calls for the latter prior to the beginning of the academic year.
