Government Law College is situated of Vellore also known as GLC Vellore which was established in the year of 2008. Situated in Gandhi Nagar, Katpadi, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, this affiliated college is recognised by Bar Council of India BCI. The campus is extended to 10. 8 acres, which presents the appropriate environment for learning law. GLC Vellore has 370 students enrolled and the college has 8 faculties which is small and gives Laser sharp focus. Within three degree programmes, the college provides its students with 4 courses, focusing on different aspects of law.
Government Law College Vellore has a number of facilities in order to help students in their educational as well as personal development. The college library organised the different sections with the book stacks, reading area, reference, and periodical sections to give the clients adequate and sufficient resources for legal research. The college also understands the need to take care of the physical aspect of the students and the college has sports and even a gym. In addition, a moot court facility is provided for the students doing practical legal training to develop their advocacy skills. Campus is well outfitted with modern Information Technology facilities so that students can carry out online studies and activities. There is first aid facility within a health centre for cases of illnesses or injuries among the college community. Networking affiliations of the college also hold solid alumni relations.
Altogether the institute has 4 full time courses for the law education which is offered at various levels. This includes Undergraduate, postgraduate and specialty programmes in laws. On the matter of total student recruitment, the college admits 200 students for all the courses it offers, in order to meet its goal of having a reasonable student contact ratio with the faculty. The courses are all meant to give a common learning in legal systems that prepares the students for different subtopics in law.
The admission procedure is centralised and based on merit for Government Law College, Vellore and are done through counselling. For the 3-year LLB programme and the 5 years BA LLB Integrated course the admitted students are selected based on merit. LLB
Candidates who have passed a three-year Degree Examination of Universities in Tamil Nadu and Such degree awarded by Member Universities of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi for the purpose of mutual recognition on a reciprocal basis, after 10+2+3+ or 11+1+3 pattern and also recognized by Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University alone are eligible for admission to B.L. (3 years) Degree Course.
BA LLB
Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination under the 10+2 pattern with not less than 45% of marks which is recognized by the syndicate as equivalent to the Higher Secondary Examination of the Government of Tamil Nadu, are eligible for admission.
For S.C./S.T. candidates concession of 5% marks in the minimum of marks required for admission for B.L. 5 year Degree Course of study as prescribed in the regulations will be given.
LLM Constitutional Law
A candidate who has passed the B.L./LL.B Degree Examination and has secured not less than 50% of the aggregate marks in all the Three Years of the Three Year B.L./LL.B Degree Course or in all Five Years of the Five Year B.L. / LL.B Degree Course together, as the case may be, shall be eligible to apply for the LL.M. Degree Course. However, a relaxation of 5% is given to the candidates belonging to SC/ST communities.
LLM Administrative Law
A candidate who has passed the B.L./LL.B Degree Examination and has secured not less than 50% of the aggregate marks in all the Three Years of the Three Year B.L./LL.B Degree Course or in all Five Years of the Five Year B.L. / LL.B Degree Course together, as the case may be, shall be eligible to apply for the LL.M.
