Government Medical College Thiruvallur, is new in Tamil Nadu available from the academic year 2021 – 2022. This is an affiliated college situated in Perumbakkam Village, Thiruvallur which is under the deemed approval of NMC-National Medical Commission. The institute is located on a vast 60 acre land so that there is enough facility for all academic and co-curricular needs. It is a coeducational institution that means it welcomes all the students of different sexes creating a diverse atmosphere. Currently, the college has only one degree awards, which is the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), approved to have a yearly admission of one hundred students.

By virtue of a commitment to quality education, the Government Medical College  has ensured that it has mechanisation in placing a medical education programme. Since it is a medical school, the library plays a fundamental role as a book source as well as study materials to the students. At present, Government Medical College, Thiruvallur has medical course for under graduate including MBBS the duration of which is six years and the course provided is full time.
