Government Polytechnic for Women, Chandigarh (GPW) is one of the most reputed technical institutions in the state, established in 1962. This girls-only polytechnic college is spread over a 10-acre campus in Sector 10-D of Chandigarh. This affiliated college is approved by AICTE and offers various diploma courses. As of now, the institute has 334 enroled students in total, with a faculty strength of 17. In total, GPW offers six diploma courses in different specialisations like Electronics and Communication Engineering, Architecture Assistantship, Library and Information Science, etc., for the diverse interests of would-be women technicians and professionals. 

Government Polytechnic for Women, Chandigarh, boasts a number of modern facilities that enhance the learning experience of the learners. The campus houses three separate hostel buildings that accommodate about 150 students. Other amenities include hot water, filtered drinking water, and recreation halls equipped with cable TV and music systems. For health requirements, the GPW has a full-time nurse and a visiting doctor with a stock of medicines in the dispensary. The physical fitness is taken care of by the institute through a well-equipped gym that can be availed throughout the day. Academic resources of the college include a computerised library containing 18,000 books and documents and three computer labs with approximately 40 computers that students can use. The college also has a canteen with hygienic meals at subsidised rates, an auditorium with a capacity of 450 people, and laboratories in different fields of learning to teach and support practical learning. 

Government Polytechnic for Women, Chandigarh, offers six full-time diploma courses. These programmes are based in fields such as Electronics and Communication Engineering, Architecture Assistantship, Library and Information Science, Pharmacy, Interior Decoration, and Modern Office Practice.
