Government Post Graduate College was started in 1952, and it is situated in the Kosrian Sector of Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. This affiliated college located in a vast piece of land of 13.6 acres has been imparting higher education for more than seventy two years. Approved by NAAC, the college currently encompasses 13 courses in 10 degree programs with an overall strength of 3636 students. The institution has a relatively equal distributions of male and female students, where female students comprise of 51% of the total number of the undergraduate students while 74% of the postgraduate students. The college is staffed by 52 dedicated faculty, and has a student-faculty ratio, which means that the students will have all the necessary attention and education they need.

The college boasts of the all round infrastructure that fosters the development of the students. Beneficial and modern labs allow learners to perform practical exercises in different fields of study. Various knowledge resources are available in the college library including books, newspapers and journals, as well as, digital resources. 

For students who are interested in sports and fitness the campus boast of having well equipped sporting facilities and a well equipped gym. Likewise, there are two different hostels for boys and girls and having the strength of 90 and 40 students respectively, out station college students can live safely and comfortably. The issue and emergency response are also well taken by the college through the provision of health center with first aid facilities. There is also an auditorium for cultural activities and seminars which enable the campus have an active students’ life.

Government Post Graduate College, Bilaspur continues to serve the interest of the young generation by offering various programs requiring knowledge and understanding of various fields of study. The institution offers thirteen courses, of which five are self-financing, and rest offer public financing. These include B.Sc, B.Com, BA, BBA, BCA, and other novel courses like B.Voc Retail Management & Hospitality etc. In the post graduate level the college has MA English and Economics, M.Com and Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA). The college has also taken a curriculum provision in vocational education through the Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management (BTTM). It offers undergraduate programmes with a total student intake of 3240 in all levels exhaustively preparing students both academically and practically.

Admissions to Government Post Graduate College Bilaspur are strictly on the basis of marks obtained in the previous examination. For instance the BBA admission is offered based on performance, but the BTTM course evaluates marks from both Matriculation (10) and 10+2 (10). The college has an open policy in admitting its students where candidates meet the required qualifications are accepted to join the college.
