Holy Cross College, Tripura was set up in the year 2009 and has emerged as one of systematic centre for the higher education in the northeast part of India. This affiliated college, established at Jubatara, Lembucherra, Agartala occupies 18.3 acre-campus area to fulfil students’ demand for diverse courses. The institution offers a pallet of students of 1304 and a faculty of 55 making it easy for student to learn in a conducive environment. This college has got accreditation from the NAAC and is approved from NCTE which makes Holy Cross College abide by the regular educational norms.
The college provided with many infrastructure facilities that are state of art and provides an added advantage to its students. The main store of academic resources is a library which has in its collection over 7000 books, 6 journals and 29 periodicals are available based on an automated procedure. Holy Cross College provides 16 subjects in 8 degrees to encourage the students’ knowledge and help every learner choose a course corresponding to his or her preferences. It ranges from arts, science, commerce stream, computer application, business administration, education etc. Viable as under, are the Bachelor of Arts (BA) programmes, English, Political Science, Sociology/Anthropology, and History; the programmes offer honours stream. For those intending to pursue management studies the college offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program. Civilization lovers can apply for degrees in Zoology, Human Physiology, Botany all of which offer honors degree. Also learning institution has a program in Education (B.Ed.), every year with an approved quota of 50 students. Graduate courses include MA in English and Political Science for the students as part of its postgraduate studies offer.
The admission is majorly based on merit which is an implication of Holy Cross College’s core business of offering quality education. In the vast majority of courses the decision to select will depend mainly on the applicant’s results in the qualifying examinations. The BBA program organizes a formal personal interview and a counseling session with the candidate as part of the admission process so that the management can make fair evaluation on the candidate as a whole. In the case of postgraduate, such as MA in English & Political Science, merit list which contains the marks obtained in the final degree is considered. This B.Ed programme is merit based B.Ed programme but has provision for the candidates belong to the tribal areas thus showing concern of the college towards the tribal.
