IIFT or Indian Institute of Foreign Trade Kolkata an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. The institute was established in 1963 and was granted deemed to be university status in 2002. Indian Institute of Foreign Trade was granted the AACSB accreditation in 2021.

Ph.D Economics
The eligibility criteria for applying to IIFT’s Ph.D. in Economics (Full Time) program are the following:
A. Indian Scholars -1. Master’s degree in Economics from a recognized university with at least 55% marks (or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) in aggregate. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50% may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/ OBC(NCL)/differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University Grants Commission (UGC) from time to time. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50% may also be allowed for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures. 2. Candidates who are in the final year of the Master’s degree in Economics are also eligible to apply. However, if selected, their admission will be on a provisional basis. Admission of such candidates who joins the Ph.D. Program on a provisional basis but fails to obtain minimum percentage in the Master’s degree examination (as defined in A above) is liable to be canceled forthwith. Such candidates should immediately inform the Institution of the declaration of her / his results. Admission of candidates who do not inform the Institute of such a situation will automatically stand canceled on 08th December 2021. No request for an extension of time for reevaluation, etc. will be entertained. 3. Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program. 4. No Age limit.
B. Overseas Scholars -1. Overseas candidates who are having a Master’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 55% marks (or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in aggregate can apply for the Ph.D. program. 2. Minimum knowledge of spoken and written English is essential.
MA Economics with Specialization in Trade and Finance
A candidate who has passed Bachelor degree of 3 years duration (B.A. or equivalent) under 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized university.
Ph.D Economics Part-Time
The eligibility criteria for applying to IIFT’s Ph.D. in Economics (Full Time) program are the following:

MBA International Business
- Recognized Bachelor’s degree of a minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disability (PWD) categories].
- Candidates appearing for a qualifying examination can also apply subject to submission of proof of requisite qualification by October 31, 2024.
Executive Post Graduate Diploma International Business
Admission to the Executive Programme will be of ered by the Institute based on candidates' fulfillment of eligibility conditions and ability to synchronize programme objectives with personal career goals. The Executive Programme is open to all working professionals and self-employed individuals who meet the following criteria: A minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PWD) or an equivalent CGPA in graduation. Work experience until 31st December 2023 will be considered. A No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer is required at the time of admission only for sponsored candidates. Seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC (noncreamy layer)/PWD/EWS candidates as per the Government of India rules.* The total number of seats of ered in the program are 150. Seats are reserved as per prescribed category as per Government of India norms. the reservation are subject to candidate meeting the admission requirements of the institute under this category There is no age limit for applicants
Ph.D Management
The eligibility criteria for applying to IIFT’s Ph.D. Program (Management) are the following:
A. INDIAN SCHOLARS (i) Ph.D. (Management) - Full Time and Part-Time (a) Master’s degree/M.Phil. degree in any discipline (including IIFT MPIB) from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or CGPA equivalent to B Plus in aggregate. OR Diploma courses that are considered equivalent to a Master’s Degree (e.g., PGDIM from IIMs) with 55% marks or CGPA equivalent to B Plus, recognized by AICTE/UGC would be considered. In such cases, candidates would be required to produce the necessary certificate(s) from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). (b) A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50% may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ and differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University Grants Commission (UGC) from time to time.
