Hyderabad’s Indian Institute of Hotel Management and Culinary Arts, more commonly known as IIHMCA Hyderabad, has been around since 2001. Being a co-educational institution, this institute is situated in Nagendra Nagar, Habsiguda Hyderabad, predominantly in the hospitality and culinary streams. Though IIHMCA Hyderabad work as an affiliated college, plenty of courses are run to foster potential talents in the hospitality and service sector. Asa main campus stretches only 1 acres the institute encompasses a total number of 481 students. 24 qualified and highly skilled faculty members mean that the institution avails itself a balanced student teacher ratio to guarantee effective teaching. IIHMCA Hyderabad has three different degree bearing programmes that cover different area of hotel management and culinary art.
The facility of Indian Institute of Hotel Management and Culinary Arts Hyderabad has an exciting and proficient feature with modern amenities for students. There is a well-equipped computer lab in the institute that has a number of hardware stationed for the students to learn about high-tech applications in the areas of purchasing and inventory control, recipe management and accounting in the facility of the hotel industry. It’s used for organizing lectures, seminars, guest speakers, and at the same time used as a classroom for students’ presentations and workshops. There is a cafeteria on the territory of the campus which offers healthy meals to students for free. Besides, they provide the facility of having departmental laboratories, a library, first aid health centre and even gym in IIHMCA Hyderabad. For any male or female student who wishes to live in the school compound, they can do so with the many hostels for that purpose that are provided to ensure that students live in a clean and conducive environment for their books.
Combined, the institute provides the students with a total of three full-time courses designed to contain various aspects of hospitality and culinary arts. These are among the programmes namely; Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT), Bachelor in Catering Technology and Culinary Arts as well as Advanced Diploma in Patisserie and Confectionary. The BHMCT programme takes four years, while the Bachelor in Catering Technology and Culinary Arts takes only three years of study. Patisserie and Confectionary is a one-year specialized diploma course known as the Advanced Diploma.
The process of admission in IIHMCA Hyderabad is set up in the directed to identify talent who will be most suitable for a carrier in hospitality industry. In case of BHMCT and Bachelor in Catering Technology and Culinary Arts, one has to clear Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Institute. This examination also tests candidates in specific subjects in General knowledge, General English, reasoning skills, and numerical aptitude.
