Institute of Mental Health and Hospital Agra was established in 1859 in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The institute is spread over 172.8 acres and is known for the treatment of mental disorders across Northern India. In 2009, the institute was nominated as the Centre of Excellence for Manpower Development in Psychiatry and Allied Sciences by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi. Institute of Mental Health and Hospital offers professional courses in Psychiatry, Nursing and other domains. The institute is affiliated with the Dr BR Ambedkar University, Agra. IMHH Agra courses include MD, M.Phil, Post Basic Diploma and DNB levels. Admission to all these courses is done on the basis of entrance examination conducted by the institute followed by the personal interview.
To get admission in M.Phil Clinical Psychology, candidates must appear for the written examination and interview. The institute has an in-house hospital where OPD, in-patient, emergency facilities are available for the general public. Other facilities include Bio-Chemical lab, X-ray unit, test and other facilities are available at the IMHH Agra. The institute hospital consists of 30 wards, intensive care, administrative block, other buildings for therapy units, and an auditorium for patient’s recreational activities. The institute provides training in the field of Psychiatry and helps in conducting research in behavioural sciences.

DNB Psychiatry
- Candidates who are in possession of MBBS degree/Provisional Pass Certificate recognized as per the provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 and possess permanent/provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the Medical Council of India/ State Medical Council and have completed one year of internship/likely to complete.
- Candidates found to be ineligible at any stage of DNB-CET will not be permitted to appear in the examination. In an unlikely event of any ineligible candidate appearing and/or being successful in the DNB-CET, the results/candidature of such candidate shall be canceled and/or are deemed to be canceled.
M.Phil Psychiatric Social Work
the course is open to those who have obtained a Master's degree in Social Work from a recognized university by the UGC securing not less than 55% marks in aggregate for SC/ST/OBC category, a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate is essential
Post Basic Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing
- Gnm from an institution recognized by the Indian nursing council and/or state medical faculty
- registered as a nurse in the Indian nursing council and/or state medical faculty
- minimum one year experience as a staff nurse
- preference shall be given to the candidates with B.sc nursing
M.Phil Clinical Psychology
