Jowai Polytechnic was set up in the year 2001 at Ladthadlaboh, near Kiang Nongbah Government College, West Jaintia Hills, Jowai, Meghalaya. This is a government run institute recognized by AICTE which imparts diploma education in different fields of Engineering. Located in a quarter hectare piece of high land Jowai Polytechnic as at now has only 231 full time students and 17 members of staff. The institute offers three diploma course, Automobile Engineering, Architecture Assistantship and Costume Design and Garment Technology.
This polytechnic has several facilities that would enable the students have a quality learning experience. The campus includes separate hostels for boys and girls who can stay in at an extra cost of fees. A good system of library support helps learners acquire the required knowledge, and practical facilities in laboratories and workshops meet applied requirements of different faculties. Another area of concern is also health and leisure, and to this effect Students have access to quality sports amenities and a gym. A hall of capacity 200 is used for college functions and meetings. To enhance the students and staff comfort, the polytechnic offers transport facilities and food facility in the form of a cafeteria. There is also a guest house or waiting room for the visiting faculties and students/families.
There are three full time diploma courses offered in Jowai Polytechnic for a period of three years each. Cohort size of 231 students across all programmes intake capacity of the institute is as follows.
