Kasturba Gandhi Nursing College (KGNC), started in 2003, is one of the premier constituent Nursing colleges situated at Puducherry, India. Spread over a sixty six acres of land, KGNC has got a programme in nursing with various programmes accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and recognised by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). The college has a total headcount of 423 and faculty of 54; the student teacher ratio being favorable. KGNC is comprised of three degrees, including 8 courses, focused on different nursing specialties. Employing 37% male and 63% female students, the college is also cosmopolitan in terms of gender balance.
Kasturba Gandhi Nursing College has a corporate philosophy that envisages the provision of world class teaching amenities to foster improved learning outcomes by students. The college facility comprises functional laboratories such as Medical Surgical Nursing Lab, Community Health Nursing Lab, Mental Health Lab and others. Such amenities help student get practical experience necessary for the development of their skills. The college library is a knowledge paradise containing more than ten thousand books on nursing, the current Indian and foreign journals are used for students’ academic needs, including undergraduate and postgraduates. To meet the needs and comfort of students, KGNC has a number of attractive and comfortable hostels, separated for boys and girls equipped with necessary facilities necessary for comfortable study and personal development.
The college focuses on offering all cuts of nursing courses; the college has 8 full time nursing courses out of which 4 are at undergraduate level, 3 are masters level and 1 is doctoral level. The speciality programme of B Sc Nursing has an intake capacity of 100 and Post basic B.Sc Nursing has an intake capacity of 40. Presently at the post graduate level, KGNC offers M.Sc programmes in various fields of nursing with an intake capacity of five in each specialty.

B.Sc Nursing
- The minimum age for admission is 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
- The minimum education requirement – Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (12 years study) (or) Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2), Pre-degree examination (10+2) (or)Any equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or university with Science (Physics/Chemistry/ Biology/English) with a minimum of 45% marks.
- 5% of marks are relaxed for SC/ST candidates.
- Married candidates are also allowed.
- The candidate shall be medically fit.
Post Basic B.Sc Nursing
- Passed the Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or Intermediate or 10+2 or an equivalent examination recognized by the university for this purpose. Those who have done 10+1/PUC on or before 1986, will be eligible for admission.
- The maximum education requirements shall be the passing of a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery.
- Obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery and registered as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with the State Nursing Council.
- Worked for a minimum period of one year as a nurse in a hospital/institution or a full-time Public Health Nurse for one year after obtaining the above-mentioned diploma and registered in a State Nursing Council.
- The candidate should have undergone a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery in an institution that is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
- A male nurse trained before the implementation of the new integrated course besides being registered as a Nurse with the State Nursing Council shall produce evidence of training approved by the Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of Midwifery in any one of the following areas:
- O.T. Techniques
- Ophthalmic Nursing
- Leprosy Nursing
- TB Nursing
- Psychiatric Nursing
- Neurological and Neuro Surgical Nursing
- Community Health Nursing
- Cancer Nursing
- Orthopedic Nursing
M.Sc Medical Surgical Nursing
- The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.
- The minimum education requirements shall be the passing of B.Sc. (Nursing)/Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
- The candidate should have undergone B.Sc. (Nursing)/Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing) in an institution that is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
- Minimum one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. (Nursing).
- Minimum one year of work experience prior to or after Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing).
- The candidate should be medically fit.

- No age limit.
