Kelappaji College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (KCAET) is in the Tavanur, Kerala since 1971 as a prestigious constituent college. Best known as KCAET Tavanur, this esteemed institution has been in the business of providing education in the field of agricultural engineering for more than fifty years. Located on a large area of land of 99 acres, KCAET combine conventional farming practices with modern techniques. The college that was approved with All India Council for Technical Education (AICT: ) has a total students’ strength of 334 and a faculty strength of 15 members.

KCAET Tavanur has obtained a considerable number of facilities that can facilitate the learning atmosphere of the students. Information Centre in the college known as KCAETLIC being the central point of learning and research centre for agricultural engineering resources. Many of them are ICT facilities such as computers and internet connections of high speed. In addition to this, skills labs and other practicals, college has well equipped departmental laboratories. There is also the Computer Centre with forty computers with broadband internet connection and a Geographic Information System Lab that is equipped with five computers. KCAET also prides itself in the general development of its students with fully endowed sporting and games facilities, Gym, and a complete playground. Accommodation is made comfortable by having divided hostels for boys and girls.

The university provides a wide range of academic programmes in Tavanur, all being professional oriented. Established B.Tech college offers two full time B.Tech programme in Agricultural Engineering and Food Technology having an intake capacity of 60 each. At the doctoral level, KCAET offers the following three fields of Ph.D Programmes; Farm Power and Machinery, Agricultural Processing and Food Engineering, and Soil and Water Engineering. These courses are full-time that provides skilled professionals and researchers in the area of agricultural engineering.

KCAET Tavanur has very unique admission policies in which they allow students to enroll for admission based on merits. For the undergraduate B.Tech programmes, there is the karala Engineering Architecture & Medical Examination (KEAM). That is why the State Entrance Examination Commissioner formulates the list of ranks based on the entrance test results.
