Mahatma Gandhi College was set up in 1948 at Kesavadasapuram, Pattom at Trivandrum of Kerala and is a well known co-educational institution. This NAAC affiliated college, provides a plethora of undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses in different streams. Located on 48 acres, the college accepts a total of 3,048 students of which 44 percent are males while 56 percent are females. The institution currently has 106 dedicated faculty members and offers 30 courses for 7 degree offerings majoring in arts, sciences, and commerce.
Students in the college should be provided with a favourable learning environment and the college avails several facilities. The library endowed with all facilities of a premier educational institute is stocked with 66535 books, 22 periodicals, 16 dailies and 50 journals to support academic research. The students are able to use up to date IT infrastructure and the various machines are networked and almost all are connected to the internet for research purposes. It has got developed laboratory facilities for different departments in order to provide the needed practical exercise. For overall growth the college offers the following amenities including fields for sports activities, a gym hall and an auditorium for drama and music among others. A canteen may be a sale of cheap cooked food and the Parent-Teacher Association even provides midday meals to hungry students for free. The college also has Wi-Fi across the college, thus students can easily access different online resources.
This college actively engages in providing education and consists of 19 under graduate courses, 9 post graduate courses, also, 7 doctoral programs. All courses offered are full time and regular, to suit different fields of specialization. All programs have a student intake of 2383 in this college. According to the scholarly records, in the most recent year, 891 undergraduate and 142 postgraduate students benefited from scholarships as an indication of the institution’s bias towards deserving contender.
Currently, the college uses merit as the basis of admission system which prepares capable candidates to practice their dreams careers at Mahatma Gandhi College. Academic session of the college is as per University of Kerala calendar though it has different admission schedule normally starts from June-July for next academic year. Surprisingly, no specific entrance examination is required but to assess the candidate’s performance in the qualifying examinations. Some of the scholarship opportunities available are given but the college’s details such as the amount of money provided, the duration among others are unknown. Ph.D Commerce
Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and successfully completing the M.Phil. Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to the Ph. D. Degree in the same Institution in an integrated programme. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

BA History
A person, who have passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for the course.
B.Com
