The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology aims to fulfill the growing demand of Electronics and Information Technology professionals through establishing various Institutes all over the country including in the North Eastern region, Aizawl The National Institute is a government aided Institute commonly known as NIELIT Aizawl, which was established in the year 2001. Located in the beautiful city of Aizawl, Mizoram, this institute is located sits on 3.10 acres of the land. NIELIT Aizawl is well acclaimed for its pursuit of quality education in Electronics and Information Technology. Being an AC accredited college of the AICTE, the college has enrolled 345 students and opens up a wide variety of courses for them. Managed by a trustee, the institute has 12 members of faculty who remain dedicated to professional and focused teaching. Due to co- educational system followed in NIELIT Aizawl, gender biasness in technical education is absent.
The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology Aizawl boasts of the best facilities to improve the standards of the students that it hosts. For technical education, besides classroom teaching the institute possesses well equipped laboratories such as electronics labs and mechanical workshops. The campus also has discrete computer labs with modern accessories linked to a strong campus LAN networking. Institute has a wonderful library which contains over 8000 books and CDs on electronics, computers and communication, 22 journals and magazines’ subscriptions. For the admitted students and scholars who need homestay there is an accommodation Forum in the campus by name NIELIT Aizawl, where it has the capacity to accommodate one hundred boys and fifty girls.
As it has been seen various courses are offered at National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology Aizawl for students to pursue as full-time courses in different education level. The institute offers four main programmes: BCA, MCA, Diploma Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering. : These courses are intended to offer arbitrary values with regard to any academic major or career preference in the area of information technology and electronics. While the MCA programme is a postgraduate course that takes 60 students, the two diploma programmes take thirty students each. Due to the richness of the particular courses, the students are able to focus on their directions of choice to meet the modern trend of IT discipline.

The Admission Committee sets certain conditions for qualification of prospective students by counselling or passing an entrance test or both. BCA
A candidate seeking admission to the BCA Course must have passed 10+2 (any stream) securing not less than 50% marks in aggregate (5% relaxation to ST/SC candidates) from the Central Board of Secondary Education or any other equivalent examination recognized by the Mizoram University preferably with Mathematics as one of compulsory or optional course, or any other vocational course related to the computer stream having either Computer Science or Computer Engineering as compulsory/optional course.
MCA
- A candidate who has passed 3 years (or Six Semesters) Bachelor’s Degree (B.A/B.Sc./B.Com./B.C.A/B.B.A. or any other degree course) with at least 50% marks in aggregate or having equivalent grade from any recognized University/Institution with Mathematics as core/compulsory course at the graduation level.
- Lateral Entry: A candidate who has passed the PG Diploma in Computer Application from any recognized University/Institution or NIELIT ‘A’ Level course under Govt. of India (with at least 50% aggregate marks) and a minimum of one (1) year of institutional study after Bachelor’s Degree can be considered for admission into 3rd semester (Third Semester) of MCA program, subject to the availability of the seats.
