The National Institute of Fashion Technology Chennai was established in 1995. NIFT institutes are one of the renowned names in the fashion industry for their esteemed fashion technology programmes. NIFT Chennai is one of the campuses out of 18 esteemed NIFT campuses across the country. NIFT Chennai provides courses in the field of Fashion, Design, Fashion Management and Technology. NIFT Chennai offers a total of 12 courses.

Courses at NIFT Chennai include Diploma in Fashion Fit and Style at diploma level of 2-year duration, B.Des of 4-year duration at UG level and MFT, MFM and PGD courses at postgraduate level of 2-year duration each. B.Des at NIFT Chennai includes specialisations in Leather Design, Fashion Communication, Accessory Design, Textile Design, Fashion Design, Knitwear Design and Apparel Production. Admission to NIFT Chennai B.Des programmes is based on the NIFT Entrance Examination followed by a personal interview by the institute.

All the NIFT campuses have a centralised placement cell which takes care of the on-campus recruitment of the students. Facilities at NIFT Chennai includes hostel, library, auditoriums, laboratories, cafeteria, gym, sports and many other facilities to cater both the students and faculty living in the campus premises.
