Patna Law College, established in 1909, is a reputed constituent college situated in Patna, Bihar. This institution, which is more than a century old, is located in the heart of the city on a small 4.62-acre campus. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council accredited Patna Law College, and the institution also has approval from the Bar Council of India. The college provides good legal education to legally aspiring students. At present, there are 777 students studying in three streams of specialised law courses, assisted by 8 faculty members.
The limitless list of facilities ranges from a well-stacked library to other ways for improving the learning experience of the students. At the centre of all such facilities is the well-stacked library of Patna Law College, comprising thousands of books, journals, and periodicals—a rare volume on ancient laws, which constitute a part of this collection. The library is a corporate member of the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi, and the Indian Bar Review, thereby providing students with the most updated legal publications. The students have a moot court at the college level for practical training so that they may improve their advocacy skills. This institution has two separate hostels, one for boys and the other for girls, providing comfortable accommodation to students coming from other parts of the country. The boys' hostel has 52 single-seated rooms in the old block and 22 four-seated rooms in the new block; girl students can avail accommodation in one of the three girls' hostels of Patna University. Both have entertainment rooms, medical facilities, and purified drinking water. This would include an outdoor playground for badminton, volleyball, and basketball, with indoor facilities for table tennis and chess.
Patna Law College offers a concentrated selection of three full-time courses in law at different levels of study. The institution offers a three-year Bachelor of Laws (LLB), a two-year Master of Laws (LLM), and a one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Law. The LLB being the pillar course of the institution has the maximum intake of 120, which is designed to help students build up successful careers in the different aspects of law. The LLM with an intake of 20, and the PGD in Law with 40, enable students to focus on specified areas of law.
