Phek Government College was started in the year 1981; it is one of the leading colleges in Phek, district of Nagaland. Located on a 38 acre land this affiliated college provides a wide field of study in arts and science under graduate programme. This college is NAAC accredited, meaning that the college is dead set on providing quality education to its learners. Phek Government College with a total student enrolment of 260 and 40 members of teaching faculty .

In total, Phek Government College teaches 14 courses distributed in 4 degrees programmes to students with different preferences. It offers arts and sciences curricula as well as pass/fail and honors tracks. In the arts faculty, a student can earn an honours degree in Economics, Education, History, BA Political Science, and BA English. The sciences stream encompass honour programmes in areas of botany, chemistry, zoology, physics and mathematics. All these courses are full time and take three years to complete. Total intake capacity of the college is quite high, there are 300 seats for each arts honour’s programme and 150 for each science honour’s programme. Phek Government College course admission procedure is quite simple and the College assures it gives admission to all interested students. The applications are done on a first come first served basis All students are allowed to apply, irrespective of their category, whether national or international. Admission process mostly starts immediately after the declaration of the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) Higher Secondary result. As it will be recalled, interested prospective students can get the application form and prospectus at the college office. Original and photocopies of all documents and certificates as well as completed application forms and copies of the same have to be presented within the stated time. The students are required to be in Pull with Parents or Guardian on the day of Admission to meet Principle. The college also has 5% quota system for admission of sc/OBC and disabled students as measure towards giving the less privilege a chance. Phek Government College also has provision for CUET UG score for admissions as applicable to other colleges of the country.
