The Prananath College was set up in 1959 and is located in Mukundaprasad, Khordha district of Odisha, is a leading autonomous college. The college which is located in a large area of 74.428 acres has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The College enrolls 4,134 students, and has a faculty strength of 83; it offers 33 programmes across 10 courses. The college is a large-scale educational establishment that provides a variety of educational programmes, based on Arts, Science, and Commerce departments for students interested in various specialisations and The stimulating and nurturing atmosphere of the College.

Prananath College has put in place a list of facilities which are part of a general student experience. Jayee Rajguru library established in the same year of the foundation of the college is the focal point for all academic process. It serves more than 69,500 books alongside a number of National and International journals and library also owns variety of digital databases through various consortiums. There are numerous and well-equipped laboratories, a dispensary with resident medical personnel, athletic facilities, and a gymnasium on campus. The college is well aware of the importance of student comfort, and therefore, has different hostels for boys and girls. The campus has connectivity to Internet through wireless facility based on JIO 4G network to support student and staff’s requirement. The college has conveniently accommodated four canteen shops and three ATM machines within the campus.

Prananath College provides a range of under graduated and post graduated courses. There are 21 undergraduate and 12 postgraduate courses offered by the institution and all are full-time programmes. The academic offerings of the college are distributed over a range of liberal arts, business, sciences, humanities, commerce and computers. Some of the well known undergraduate courses are B.Com Honours, B.Sc; Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, B.A. Education, English, Political Science etc. At post graduate level the college has course like M.A. in Personnel Management and Industrial Relation, M.Sc in computer Science, M.Com and many more.

Unlike many other similar institutions of higher learning, Prananath College has a policy on admissions that is fully qualifying and merit based. It uses marks obtained in the qualifying examination to offer a course. The idea is to make sure that we have students in this college from all the backgrounds and they have a chance to further their studies.
