Located at Club Road, Jalpaiguri, Prasannadeb Women's College is an affiliated college and, since its very inception in 1950, has risen to be the first torch bearer of higher education to women in West Bengal. It has been nurturing young minds with great care for over seven decades. The institution sprawls on a compact 5.43 acres and is accredited by NAAC, showing its commitment to quality education. The college offers a wide spectrum of 17 courses under 4 degree programs with a total enrolment of 3,827 students and a faculty strength of 73. Core streams include mainly Arts and Sciences.
The College has provided several facilities that help in the growth and enrichment of its students in various ways. The library, one of the anchor institutions for academic resources, has a stupendous collection of about 31,000 textbooks and reference books. It also subscribes to national and international journals. The library is fully computerized, with cataloging and OPAC services for faculty members. At the same time, students will be provided with necessary technological support through the IT infrastructure of the college for their academic pursuits. The hostel accommodation for out-of-town students consists of three blocks: Uttara, Purabi, and Malancha, with a capacity for over 250 students. A staff-managed hostel with an out-house Superintendent-in-Charge and an in-house Assistant Superintendent makes the hostel really comfortable and safe.
Prasannadeb Women's College imparts a total of 17 courses, and all these are full-time programs. The college principally offers undergraduate courses in arts and sciences.

The admission process into Prasannadeb Women's College is mainly based on merit so that the meritorious candidates get a scope to fulfill their aim of higher education. The college always performs a very transparent admission procedure by making the merit lists on the basis of academic performance. Students will be admitted according to marks in the qualifying examination, which is usually 10+2 or its equivalent.

BA Economics Major
A student will be allowed to take admission in the Major Course of B.A./B.Com./BBA/B.Sc./BCA if he/she/transgender has passed in at least four (04) subjects with English as compulsory subject in the Higher Secondary [10+2] Examination held by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other Examination which is recognized by the University as equivalent thereto.
BA Education Major
