It is an affiliated college that was started in the year 2010, and therefore has been in the business of teaching for more than a decade. Located on a large 13 acres land area, ACE Palakkad has a range of engineering and management courses. At present, the institute has got the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) recognition of the educational quality. RIST has a total enrolment of 634 students and employs 77 members of the teaching faculties to support the learning of those students hence it has optimum student-teacher ratio.
ACE Palakkad's academic activities can be complemented by rich list of facilities provided for the institution. The institute has well established laboratories with advance and standard instruments which offer practical knowledge in the respective fields to the students. The requirement of knowledge-based products and service delivery was met through the central library which stocks reference material and books in excess of 7000 volumes in different disciplines, besides housing regional and international periodicals. For the digital resources, students can work with the D’Space digital library and electronic journals, accessed through ASTM Digital Library Online and IEEE.
Academic courses provided by RIST for the students aim to span across a wider spectrum of fields and subjects. The institute offers 14 regular programmes, of which there are IT based B.Tech courses and an MBA course. The courses offered are B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Civil, Electronics and Communication, Diploma in Computer Engineering, Automobile, Civil Engineering, and so on.
The admission process in RIST differs from course type and quota type which is available for admission programme. There are three principle streams through which B.Tech programmes are offered in different institutions. According to the Merit Quota candidates have to write the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) and join through CP allotment. The Management Quota has the condition that the students have to qualify in either the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) or the Kerala Engineering Admission test KEAM.
