Rajiv Gandhi Government College Shimla also referred as RGGC Shimla was established in the year 1984. This affiliated college is in the beautiful city of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and has been providing service to students for almost forty years now. RGGC is situated over a campus of 2.5 acres in the outskirts of the city, and out of 2592 students, it provides various programmes of studies. Faculty recruited at the college totals 46 committed professionals, providing a propitious student to faculty ratio.
RGGC encompasses modern facilities in order to provide best conditions for studying for its students. The college library is a crucial for academic needs for storing of books and is equipped with over 55000 e-text and over 2000 e-journey through N-LIST project. In total, the available courses make up 23 and all of them are full-time programs. These subjects are BA in different faculties (political science, mathematics, English, history, Economics and others), B.Com, B.Sc both in medical and non-medical groups, along with professional courses BCA and PGDCA.

BA Political Science
- A pass in the Higher Secondary (+2) Examination ( Academic Stream) conducted by the H.P. Board of School Education or an examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the various bodies of the H.P. University.
- Provided that the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination with the arts/humanities stream shall be given preference in admission to the B.A. program.
- Age Limit: For the first admission to the First Semester of the Degree Course, the maximum age limit is 23 years on the first of July of the Year concerned. In the case of SC/ST candidates, a relaxation of three years is allowed. The Vice-Chancellor, HPU, Shimla, may, in exceptional cases/Circumstances, be recorded in writing, and give relaxation in age up to a maximum of six months to other candidates also. All such cases may be provisionally granted age relaxation for up to six months by the Principal of the college and a consolidated list of all such cases will be sent for approval by the Vice-Chancellor by the 31st of October of every academic year.
- B.A. (with Maths): 45% (in aggregate or in Maths).
BA Mathematics
