S.Government College of Science Education & Research, Jagraon (GSC Jagraon) was inaugurated in the year 1968 to become a pioneering institution to train talented teachers, researchers and responsible citizens. This is a government college situated in Jagraon, Punjab, which got affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh ‘B++’ NAAC accredited college. Located on a large 42 acre campus, GSC Jagraon currently provides the following 6 science programmes at both under- graduate and post- graduate levels Education: The college has total student enrolment of 547 students of which 79% are under graduate and 21% are post graduate students. The institute currently boasts of 23 faculty members and hence The institute has a fairly small student to faculty ratio hence the institute ensures every student gets enough attention and quality education.

S.Government College of Science Education & Research Jagraon is well endowed with infrastructures and amenity that can support child development in the most integrated manner. It has well-equipped laboratories for practical exposure, a College Library with more than 16000 books and up to date Information Technology facility with Wi-Fi facility. Students enjoy large classroom space as well as a cafeteria and an auditorium for instructional and cultural assemblies. It also has other sports facilities with huge playgrounds for different activities like; hockey, football and badminton among others. female students are provided with accommodation in a girls’ hostel with which they have a common room with Television set, and a Court for badminton. The college pays attention to students especially in aspects such as health, transport, and basic needs are available with a doctors office, a parking lot as well as a shopping centre within the college.

It has 6 full time courses in science streams at the institute level. At the undergraduate level there B.Sc programmes in Non Medical, Medical, and Non Medical Chemistry (Hons), Medical Chemistry (Hons) Duration of the programmes is three years. For postgraduate studies, this college offer two years M.Sc course in Botany and Chemistry.

At GSC Jagraon the admissions are done according to merit list that is followed by Panjab University, Chandigarh. For the undergraduate programmes admissions are merit basis where the university has a right formula to produce merit list for admission. Admissions of the Postgraduate level are based on the entrance test results held at Panjab University and the academic merit.
