S.M. Shetty College of Science, Commerce and Management Studies is prestigious and established in the year 2008. The college is UGC approved and has received A+ grade accreditation by NAAC. It is spread across an area of 2 acres and the University of Mumbai is affiliated with it. It offers 11 different courses under 6 degree programs, specialising in the domains of Science, Commerce, Management, Media, and Journalism. The college herein hosts a total sum of 2,303 students and contains a total of 32 faculty.

S.M. Shetty College of Science, Commerce and Management Studies  a very different makeup related to its student body; at the undergraduate level, it has 62% boys and 38% girls for students; however, at the postgraduate level, it contains a 50:50 ratio. It has a well-equipped library with print and e-resources to meet all the requirements of the academic community. There's a fully equipped gym with a trainer, also focusing on the belief in the need for the body to be physically fit for the sharp mind. The IT infrastructure is of top level, having well-furnished computer labs for the students and the faculty. The infrastructure is topped up by an auditorium with audio-visual facilities adequately furnished to hold events and seminars on campus. The laboratory facilities, especially a Language Lab, overwhelmingly support practical learning. 

S.M. Shetty College offers a wide variety of full-time courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Undergraduate courses are: B.Com, B.Sc, BMS, BMM (now BAMMC), and B.Sc in Data Science, a recently introduced course. The postgraduate courses include M.Com and M.Sc. 

The admission at S.M. Shetty College is based predominantly on merit. Merit criteria for each course might vary. For the courses B.Com programs - Accounting and Finance, Banking and Insurance, the marks scored in the HSC or its equivalent exam is taken under consideration while admitting students.
